I am a 'plein air' painter at heart. I love to paint outdoors in all kinds of weather where I can depict the changing atmosphere and its affect on light and color. Many of my paintings are from Block Island where the weather is constantly changing. Block Island offers a variety of terrain, rolling hills with stone walls, water views and island vegetation. The light is also always changing and can be incredibly dramatic.


My more recent love is to paint animals, cows being my favorite. Their expressions, stance and relationship to the environment makes them interesting subject matter. I love the way the light hits their back and the different color reflected off their coats.
