My Story

My Story

I’ve been making art for as long as I can remember. When I was five, living in Norwalk, Connecticut, I used to sit at a tiny table in my bedroom and copy Peanuts comics. I loved Snoopy, quiet but full of emotion and confidence. I’d tape my drawings up on the wall like my own little gallery. I felt like a real artist.

I was incredibly shy and observant as a child. I didn’t have the words for what I felt, but I had images. Art was where I could be alone and safe and expressive without explaining myself.

When my parents divorced I was thirteen. I pretended everything was fine. I went to school, watched a lot of TV, and buried my emotions. I stopped making art for a while. It wasn’t until high school art classes that I felt like myself again. I had something that belonged just to me. Creating gave me a sense of control when life felt anything but.

For years I painted realistic landscapes, seascapes and even cows in oil. Carefully defining the world outside of me. Then about ten years ago, in a magical season of life in Florida, everything shifted. The turquoise sea, pink flowers, shell roads, and luminous light opened something in me. I began to loosen up. Blur the edges. Let go.

Now I paint abstract. Intuition helps me as I surrender to the canvas. I still carry chaos in my mind, and painting is my release. I’m not illustrating a place anymore, I’m translating emotion. The work leads. I follow.

And that freedom changed everything.

"Mere color, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways.”

— Oscar Wilde

Artist Statement

Color and light are at the heart of my work. I am drawn to the way light transforms a moment-how it casts a glow, infuses energy, and creates a sense of vibrance. As an artist, I strive to capture that feeling and weave it into my paintings.

I am an abstract expressionist painter using light as the foundation for my process. Painting large abstractions allows me to release the need for precision and embrace freedom-experimenting boldly with color, texture and form. Through sweeping strokes and layered mark-making, I create visual depth, infusing each piece with life and movement.

When I paint, I work intuitively, letting the process guide me. I imagine places and moments that spark joy, working quickly to bring order to the chaos in my mind. My paintings are personal narratives-layered with emotion, calm, and vitality-yet they remain open for the viewer to find their own connection.

My hope is to create work that resonates, inviting others to pause, interpret and recall moments of light, beauty and happiness within their own stories.
